I would like to take a couple of minutes to remember all of our service men and women for Veteran's Day. If it weren't for these great people, the wonderful country that we live in would be a totally different place. So, lets all take a minute to thank all of the fabulous military men and women for everything that they do.
My father was a career Army officer. I remember all of the hard work that he put in each and every day while in the army. I also remember being young when my father went to war in the Vietnam War and how when he came back (I was in first grade when he came home), he would never talk about his experience in the war. He still will talk only very litte about the war. I also remember the constant moving. The shortest we lived anywhere was 3 months and only one time did we live somewhere for more than 2-3 years and that was 4 years. I went to several different schools growing up and made many friends. I thought it was great, though. I loved moving and seeing different places across the country. To the point that after I had been married for 2-3 years, I was getting very restless and told my husband that we had been in the same place for long enough and it was time to move. Which we did - all the way from Willard to Brigham City.
On another note, I have spent much of the morning giving Granny her first coat of paint. So, into the kiln she goes to have the china paint fired on. She is starting to get a little "personality", but she still will need 2 more coats of paint. Well, I was thinking that while she is being fired, I would cut out and sew her dress. I got out the scissors, striaght pins and material . . . and I can't find my pattern! I have searched my craft storage 2-3 times. I thought I had my mounds of craft things all organized and all of my doll patterns together. But, I guess I am not as organized as I thought (hence - the new link on my blog to House of Order). Well the only thing I can do is call my mom as I know she has the pattern. Anyway, since mom is 2000 miles away, I won't have the pattern for about a week (it takes the post office about this long to get things from Tennessee to here). Oh well, I'll just have to work on something else. And as soon as my new books get here from House of Order, I guess I will be attempting to get my house organized better (I think that is just wishful thinking, though).
Well, anyway, everyone have a wonderful Veteran's Day.
