Fired and Scrubbed

The kiln fired perfectly and Granny came out looking good. She got her scrubbing with comet and steel wool. This smooths the porcelain. It should feel smooth and silky. If the porcelain is rough, the china paint wil go on blotchy. This is how you can tell the difference between home made dolls and factory dolls. Feel the porcelain, if it is rough, it is a factory doll, not homemade.

Next step is the first painting and into the kiln again. The painting is the fun part, this is where the doll starts to develop her "personality".
